Since its release in 2002 Bouncer has screened and has garnered international attention including nominations and commendations and the following festivals:- *Nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2002. *Nominated for Best Short Film at The Edinburgh International Film Festival and received a special jury mention for outstanding film in 2002. *Highly Commended at both The Raindance Festival, TCM and RTS. *Selected by the British Film Council to be part of the annual Britspotting tour which saw the short screened in cities such as Berlin and Toronto. *Screened at Film Festivals in Cracow and Sydney and appeared in videoteque at Cannes in 2003. *Screened in Birmingham prior to every screening of David Cronenberg's Spider.
Film-maker bio:
Geoff Thompson With a background in writing mainly non-fiction Bouncer was Geoff’s first short film. Following its success Geoff has worked again with director Michael Baig Clifford on the BAFTA award winning short film Brown Paper Bag. Since working on Bouncer he has published his first novel and his first feature film, Clubbed is in post-production.
Michael Baig Clifford Prior to working on Bouncer Michael directed several documentaries, starting with The Pitcher, which opened Channel 4’s ‘Short Stories’ series in 1994. Two of his documentaries are RTS award winners. Since working on Bouncer Michael has predominatly been working within television and participating in ‘Pure Cinema’ for Arts Council England showing at Rugby Art Gallery. He has also set up his own production company, Grand Union Films, and is attached to work on a variety of projects as director.
Geoff and Michael are currently working together on Pink as part of Screen WM’s Digital Extreme development scheme.
